On a recent weekend holiday to Mysore, I couldn’t help but notice the number of rural folk who thronged every public holiday spot. Given the population, not very surprising you might think. Sure, we have always had this trend. But as far back as I can remember, the crowd would be mostly from nearby villages, people who would come across for a day trip.
But this time around, the sheer size of the crowds in these places and the diversity is what struck me and made me explore the phenomenon a bit further. What I found was interesting.
